Antelope Road Safety and Accessibility Improvements

Type: , ,

Client: City of Citrus Heights

Antelope Road is a high speed, four lane arterial roadway with segmented portions of existing contiguous sidewalk. RJA worked closely with the City of Citrus Heights, Citrus Heights Water District and SMUD to provide survey, planning, civil engineering and construction support services for the City of Citrus Heights Antelope Road Safety and Accessibility Improvements.

RJA’s work began with design surveys, cross-sections of the existing roadway, detailed topography of the affected properties, utility research and preparation of base maps and exhibits delineating all existing utility conflicts and right-of-way requirements. RJA prepared plats and legal descriptions for necessary easement acquisitions for new street lights and sidewalk encroachments. An extensive pothole program was also developed and implemented.

In collaboration with City staff, RJA met with adjacent property owners to resolve existing right-of-way and encroachment issues.

The project PS&E included new curb, gutter and sidewalk improvements, signal and ADA upgrades, new slurry and striping and a new street lighting and street storm drain system.

To avoid multiple disruptions to traffic, RJA also designed a new 24” diameter water main and an 8” diameter water main replacement within the project limits for the Citrus Heights Water District. This design was included in the project PS&E with cost share agreements negotiated by the two agencies.
