Client: Shapell Industries of Northern California

Description:

More than 15 years in the making, Eagle Ridge is a gated master planned community nestled in the foothills of western Gilroy. The focal point of the community is an 18-hole championship Johnny Miller Golf Course. More than 1,000 homes were designed to enjoy the beautiful natural oak woodlands and the golf course, along with hundreds of acres of surrounding open space. RJA was responsible for the land planning, entitlements, civil engineering, and construction staking for this golf course community.

RJA’s hillside grading plan optimized both the aesthetic and practical goal for the plan, resulting in the movement of more than 7-million cubic yards of earth, while limiting impacts to the site’s existing natural features and preserving 90% of the 3,000+ trees surveyed within the limits of disturbance. The existing natural topographic landmarks and sensitive archaeological and habitat areas were carefully integrated into the final design.

The engineering also included three-700,000 gallon domestic water tanks, 2 water pump stations, thousands of feet of sewer and water mains, detention facilities, water quality features, 3 bridges, and 5 multiplate arch culverts.
