Ruby Hill Residential Community
Type: Residential Development
Client: Signature Properties
The Ruby Hill development located in the historic Livermore Valley is an exclusive 1,999-acre residential community. Ruby Hill takes its name from the Ruby Hill vineyard and winery which dates back to the late 1800’s. The heart of this development is the 18-hole Jack Nicklaus designed golf course.
RJA was responsible for civil engineering services for over 200 production homes 675 custom lots. In addition to the onsite grading, utility and roadway design, the development required the design of off-site utility facilities and improvements to three intersections and roadways leading to the community.
The design of the water and sewer systems encompassed 10,000 linear feet of 16-inch diameter water transmission main, 70,000 feet of 12-inch diameter water lines, two 1.5 million gallon water storage tanks and a pump station that pumps to two different pressure zones. The sanitary sewer design included 80,000 linear feet of 10-inch (average) diameter lines.
RJA also prepared plans for the main storm drainage system for the golf course. RJA staff worked with the conceptual golf course design prepared by the Nicklaus Design team and finalized the grading of the golf course to blend it with the surrounding lots and adjacent streets. 7 million cubic yards of dirt were moved as part of this project. Water for irrigation and water storage is derived from both wells and man-made lakes. The water system is recycled continually and is self-contained with its own storm water detention areas.
